Debt Counsellor of the Year

Applicants can come from any sector of the consumer credit industry, including in-house collection departments, debt collection agencies, fee-charging debt management firms and free advice counsellors working in the voluntary sectors. It is important that the postholder is dealing on a regular basis with debtors experiencing genuine financial hardship. The application should describe the manner in which the individual has supported his/her department by excelling in at least one of the following areas:

 

  • Dealing sympathetically and constructively with hardship cases
  • Turning can’t pays into can pays where appropriate
  • Technical and legal knowledge
  • Listening and communication skills
  • Raising awareness of personal debt issues within the company/agency
